Q & A

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career/owning your business?

A: I didn’t want to go back to working for someone else again. After I had children, my focus became my family. I wanted a way to feel I contributed to my own household. That meant finding something in which I could control my own hours. Also the possibility of making my own business was a lot more intriguing.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Gulf Breeze/Navarre?

A: Going on two years, however we grew up in this area, the Pensacola Beach and Gulf Breeze Proper area, so we have always considered it home.

Q: Who is the most interesting person/business owner you’ve met here in Gulf Breeze/Navarre?  Who would you like to see nominated as a Face of Gulf Breeze/Navarre?

A: There are a lot of different businesses, but we really like SeaGlass Beach Cottage. I went to high school with the two women that are there. I love it there, they’re really personable. They have a dog that’s at the front door and a lot of items that are created by local artisans.

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people? (Or someone starting their own business?)

A: You can’t give up. If you start by thinking you’re gonna be successful overnight, and you give up, I think you’re cutting yourself short. Business takes time, it takes planning, and it takes money. You’ve gotta work anyway, you might as well work for yourself and keep putting one foot in front of the other. You have to learn from your mistakes.

Q: What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about (or what is most iconic in) Gulf Breeze/Navarre?

A: The feeling of going onto the beach. It’s a feeling of being home.

Q: Where do you see yourself (and your career/business) in 5 or 10 years?

A: I plan on turning my business into a million dollar business, selling it, and buying a nice piece of property on Soundside Drive.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Gulf Breeze/Navarre, and what do you love there? (What is your favorite dish, and where do you get it?)

A: My favorite restaurant in the area is the Grand Marlin on Pensacola Beach. I used to love to get the ma-hi ma-hi. Here in Gulf Breeze, I would have to say the Copper Bull. It’s really good food. I like their steak fried egg rolls.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?  And why?

A: I’ve always wanted to go to Tahiti. I’ve never seen a more beautiful beach anywhere than what we have here, but I want to see how their beach compares. I’d love to see more beaches.

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A: The first movie I ever saw in the theater is the Fox and the Hound. My favorite movie changes from time to time. Currently, it’s The Greatest Showman. I just like musicals.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: I just kind of do things when I want to do them, but I would like to cruise the Mediterranean though.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Gulf Breeze/Navarre?

A: My entire family lives here. My in-laws, my grandparents, and my parents. I think the most unique thing here is it’s a small town community. You can get to know many people pretty easily. No matter where you go, you see people you know.

Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch?  Why?

A: Probably someone on the Supreme Court. Judges are really interesting people. I like a lot of criminology and I studied a lot of it. Any of the Justices would work. They would all be interesting to meet.

Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: I am pop music through and through. Anything in the top 40. I’ve seen a lot of the bands I’ve always wanted to see, but I would absolutely love to see Madonna and Brittney Spears in concert. Also I would go see Celine Dion.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

A: I think one thing is I want to write a book. I think my retirement plan will be to write a novel.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: Baking, because that’s my industry as well. Like food in general. Holidays, because that‘s when everyone gets together. I also think of busy. Our family is always on the run.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A: Zac Effron! Come on! Have you seen that man? Leonardo DiCaprio maybe.

Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose? Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?

A: I cook and write about food all day. As a result, when 6 pm hits I don’t even want to think about what I’m gonna make for dinner. So, I would choose a chef, as ironic as that sounds.
