About our Nominee
Colten Wright is a local business owner. Colten owns and operates the Tool Shack in Gulf Breeze! He is also running for Santa Rosa County commissioner! Before he was running his own business and playing a role in politics, he was actually in the music industry. He owned his own record label and was a band promoter as well! Colten has been a hard worker his entire life and has always had a love for the community and it’s people. He continues to give back to the community every single day. Here is a brief look into his very interesting life!

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career/owning your business?
A: I have always had a passion for, and believed in working hard. I worked in the music industry and owned my own record label and promoted bands and filled venues. Starting at age 18, I started working for the Home Depot and I worked my way up in the ranks. I eventually I managed multiple locations. I was transferred to multiple locations, but was fortunate enough to be able to come back to Gulf Breeze . When I came back home, a friend of mine and I put our limited funds together and started a Tool and Equipment Rental Business.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Gulf Breeze/Navarre?
A: I have lived in the area off and on since 1990. I moved back to Gulf Breeze in 2001.
Q: Who is the most interesting person/business owner you’ve met here in Gulf Breeze/Navarre? Who would you like to see nominated as a Face of Gulf Breeze/Navarre?
A: I would have to say Steven Aitken.
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people? (Or someone starting their own business?)
A: You need to have passion and fire for what you do. You also have to follow it up with wisdom.
Q: What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about (or what is most iconic in) Gulf Breeze/Navarre?
A: I think I would have to say Alan Davis Souvenirs, Old network video in Gulf Breeze Proper, and Waffle House in Gulf Breeze Proper. Another one is Workman’s Automotive.
Q: Where do you see yourself (and your career/business) in 5 or 10 years?
A: I see myself as a happy father to my daughters and hopefully in my second term as Santa Rosa County Commissioner.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Gulf Breeze/Navarre, and what do you love there? (What is your favorite dish, and where do you get it?)
A: I really love Dewey Destin’s in Navarre. It has a great and fun view, with fresh affordable fish.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: I would go to Europe, the Mediterranean, or Israel.
Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: Full Metal Jacket. It’s definitely one of my favorites.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: I would love to fly with the Blue Angels.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Gulf Breeze/Navarre?
A: I really love the people and the geography of the area!
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
A: I would like to have lunch with Ronald Reagan.
Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: My favorite bands are Hot Water Music, Guns n Roses, and Jellyfish.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: A lot of people don’t know that I have a passion for producing music. I started when I was young and even had my own record label and promoted bands too!
Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: Home makes me think of family, community, and warmth.
Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A: I would choose Denzel Washington to be my co-star.
Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose? Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?
A: I think a coach would be a good choice.
